Changing the mail server email address

OVERVIEW

By default, Lighthouse sends email notifications using its own mail servers (AWS SES) from the notify@lighthouse.torque.software email address. However, there is an option that allows organisations to replace this email address with a domain/email address of their choosing. There are two approaches that can be taken to complete this:

INSTRUCTIONS

1. CONFIGURE LIGHTHOUSE TO USE YOUR ORGANISATION’S SMTP

You can provide us with your organisation’s SMTP server to allow emails to be sent from Lighthouse using your organisation’s domain.

Example: noreply@organisation.com.au

To complete this, the Lighthouse team requires the following information:

  • Nominated FROM email address
  • Server IP or Hostname
  • Server Port
  • Username
  • Password
  • Does the SMTP use SSL?

2. AUTHORISE AMAZON SES USING DKIM

You can authorise Lighthouse to send emails on behalf of the domain using DKIM Authentication. Lighthouse currently uses Amazon’s SES (Simple Email Server) service which you would need to authorise.

You can find more information on how to do this here.

To complete this, the Lighthouse team requires the following information:

  • DKIM Signatures
  • Signing Key Length.

If you are interested in implementing either of the above approaches, please get in touch
with us first at helpdesk@torque.software and we would be happy to assist.
